LEE KLAFCZYNSKI (they/them)
Lee is a visual journalist and community-based storyteller in Indianapolis, Indiana.
They graduated from Kent State University in May 2015 with a B.S. in Visual Journalism, with a concentration in photojournalism.
Lee has a genuine passion for connecting with people and loves being involved in the community.
Their work has been published in The New York Times, ESPN, LA Times, The Boston Globe, ISI Photos, IndyStar, MirrorIndy & more.
They were recognized by the Hearst Journalism Awards Program in 2015 earning Third Place in the National Photojournalism Championship working on a short-term project about gentrification in San Francisco. The Society of Professional Journalists, NPPA, Ohio News Photographers Association, Indiana News Photographers Association and CPOY have also recognized their work.
If not photographing, they can be found practicing the drums, writing poetry, or riding a skateboard, often accompanied by their dog, Ruby.
Lee is primarily available for work across the Midwest but is open to travel further distances when needed.
